No tutor can appear in our directory or be booked for a single lesson until their enhanced DBS check is completed and verified. That is the enhanced-level check used in the UK for people working with children.

Every tutor is interviewed personally, subject-verified and enhanced-DBS checked, including the children's barred list, before we propose them to a family.

We tell you who we propose to teach your child, together with their verified subject evidence and screening status, before you confirm the match.

Tutors never contact students privately. No personal phone numbers, no social media, no messaging off-platform.

Messages on Elysian stay on Elysian and can be read by our safeguarding team. We tell tutors and students this, and we say it here so you know before you sign up.

Lessons are confirmed and paid for on the platform after a family accepts the proposed tutor, rate and time. Tutors are never given a student's private contact details, and we do not give students a tutor's.

Lessons are not recorded.

Ask to observe a lesson. Message the tutor before the lesson, or tell us, so the family and tutor can agree the arrangement.
